1. Chart 1183 (Thames Estuary) new edition on 25th May;

1. EAST COAST OF ENGLAND - THAMES ESTUARY - SUNK INNER PRECAUTIONARY AREA - SUNK INNER LIGHT FLOAT temporary replaced by a light vessel;
2. Upnor Reach - Temporary Exclusion Zone - 17th June 2017 21:40 – 22:40 - for fireworks and things - see image in the Temporary list;
3. Swallowtail No 4 Light Buoy – River Crouch - back on station;
4. Burnham Sailing Club Pontoon - repaired and back on station;
5. River Crouch - Rice & Cole Pontoon Annual Maintenance Complete
6. and Port of Wells dredging.
Week 22
Permanent
1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Approaches to Woodbridge Haven - Buoy. - this has already been notified locally but this is the Admiralty confirmation of the position change. There is an image to help locate where it should now be: http://www.crossingthethamesestuary.com/page9.html
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - River Thames - Jenningtree Point N - Depths. one reduction of depth just off the main channel but not likely to hinder leisure craft;
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Roughs Tower SE and Orford Ness SE - Depths. two reductions of depth, one each as it says SE of the Roughs Tower and the other SE off Orford Ness. Ditto unlikely to hinder leisure craft;
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Caister Shoal NE and Stanford Channel - Depths. Four reductions of depth around Caister Shoal and five around the Stanford Channel. Definitely not closing the channels but worth a look for those who use that area;
5. ENGLAND - East Coast - Salcott Channel - Buoyage. Legend. - Actually the Mersea Quarters buoyage rather than the Salcott. The UKHO are now adopting the buoyage as 'Seasonal' rather than showing their details so refer to my chartlet for download at http://www.crossingthethamesestuary.com/page29.html Please note the comment further down the thread.

1. A Broads Authority notice this week - Notice of Partial Restriction at Trowse Eye , River Yare and Wensum, removal of overhead powerlines by UK Power Networks with restricted access from 07:30 to 19:30 during the 19 June - 29 June 2017;

Personal addition
1. SW Sunk swatchway. Confirmation by another user that last year's waypoints are still fine. That is several users all saying the same which is good news. I was planning to re-survey this week but I am a bit rushed, under some SWMBO directions and have been asked for 4 other surveys (and a little in pain on account of two falls by dint of [expensive] multi-focal glasses which don't show my feet where they are when I look down!). In a month's time the tides are good again - is that too late? Comments?
2. Mersea Quarters - on Admiralty and Imray charts show an 'Obstn ED' SW of the Nass Beacon. ED of course means 'existence doubtful'. We have been concerned about that obstruction for a while and so last Tuesday we (that's Jon and Alan who did the hard dirty physical job while I counted the numbers) went for a hunt to see if it still exists - IT DOES!. The position was located within the Admiralty's little dotted circle (for those who are interested the object is at 51.45'778N, 000.54'773E which is off centre of the dotted circle at about 10 o clock. How high is the obstruction? Regretfully we do not yet know but from our dragging it was obvious in approx of 2m CD that this is significant. I thought - and this can only be regarded as a guess - that the obstruction must be at least 3/4 of a metre, possibly a metre high or a little more. Catching the drag on the obstruction was easy hence my guess. As this is in 2m CD this must as it is recorded, regarded as dangerous. The YC Committee Mooring isn't exactly far aware so please don't be complacent.
Note my chartlet (referred above) has 'ED' removed. I am going to have a go tomorrow to see if I can gather some objective data about its height and I will add if I can.

1. NETHERLANDS - Schouwenbank NE - Buoy. - Deletion of the West Cardinal 'Bollen';
2. NETHERLANDS - Approaches to Westerschelde - Buoyage. - a large NtM about the inshore channel running north/south down to the Westerschelde. Some deletions, some moves, some change of designations. Usual image now available;
3. NORTH SEA - Netherlands Sector - Bol van Knokke - Obstruction. - Explosives reported as lost! Image shows the position;
Temporary
1. River Thames - ST CLEMENTS REACH - GRAYS TERMINAL - SURVEY OPERATIONS - on, or around, 1st June 2017 survey operations will take place at GRAYS TERMINAL by JETTIES 1 and 2.
2. River Thames - LONG REACH - HARRISONS WHARF - HEAVY LIFT OPERATIONS - to remove 13 x 70 ton empty gas tanks, loaded into a barge “ALAN BENNETT” on or about at each High Water, commencing 21st June 2017 and expected to be completed by 29th June 2017;
3. River Thames - GRAVESEND REACH - FIREWORKS DISPLAY - Thursday 8th June 2017 at 22:00hrs conducted from a barge which will be positioned approximately 200m offshore of Tilbury Landing Stage with cruise ship COLUMBUS II alongside Tilbury Landing Stage. Expected to be completed by 22:10.
4. River Medway - Garrison Point Traffic Warning Light - inoperative at present;
5. Port of Wells - Change to navigable channel - URGENT - new navigable channel has opened up on the Run between Ben Taylors buoy and Walkers Jetty. The new channel has been cleared of moorings and all the Port hand buoys have been moved from the old channel to the new channel. At the Southeast corner of the channel at Walkers Jetty there is a high sandbank which is marked with port hand buoys. Please do not attempt to sail over this bank. New Position No 16 Buoy Lat 52°57'.857N Long 000°51'.075E
6. Port of Wells - more dredging;
7. Port of Ramsgate - West Quern buoy currently unlit.
